Like my 6yr old little niece told me. Nothing but love to all!!!! I could pray to my grandmother. I could pray to my great grandfather. I could pray to the pope! The only thing that I am hearing from this is that god only hears prayers sometimes. I am a non Catholic and I am very curious about this topic.
Would you please help me understand a bit better. My understanding is that Jesus told us that we are to pray only to Himself or to the Lord Matthew Again, please help me understand this. But Jesus is the Christ, and can do what the saints, Mary, and others that have passed on can Not do. Unlike the saints, Mary, and other souls that were conceived by a earthly flesh father. I think if someone could post such scriptures it would help many trying to understand the act of praying to the living souls passed on.
Until that is clear to many, praying to Jesus asking for he to intercede on your behalf to God as he instructed in his worlds will never lead you wrong.
U.S. Catholics disagree about what it means to believe in God
Because God honors his word. Jesus would not instruct you to do something, and then punish you for following his direction. But there are consequences for following other instructions over God word, Because God is a jealous God.

I pray Jesus leads someone to post the things you ask for, in simple clarity. Rather than the used car salesman version of let me show you this car instead of the actual car that was advertised that you to truly came to inquire to buy…. Hi—Thanks for your question. Here is a brief summary from the Catechism of the Church about the communion of saints. My idea that I will present next is not explicitly spelled out in the CCC, but this is my take on your question—If we on earth are bound by time, once we die we step outside of time into the eternal dimension and so what is happening in eternity is not bound by the time that we experience here on earth.

There is a scripture that says to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord — 2Cor. First this happens…then this happens….. Thank you, Emily. I knew this at one time; thank you for refreshing my memory. I am putting your response in a safe place where I can see it in the future. Even if the saints in heaven can see and hear people on earth still alive in their fleshly bodies. Can someone please post scripture stating or showing an example where a saint in heaven actually interceded on a prayer of a person still alive on earth, to God the heavenly father.
I think that is where most are struggling. I think they are just seeking they way the know how. I think they are truly trying to understand why they should do other than the scripture. John Something showing where a saint in heaven not only heard the prayer, but actually interceded it to God on that persons behalf.
Not Just hear the prayer then refused to intercede it to God. That makes me think of when you purchase something without reading all the agreement of purchase. I will not reach out to anybody else. Why would anyone think praying to a Saint would be pleasing to God when he sent Jesus to die for us?
They are not born again of His Holy Spirit and simply deceived. We are called Saints of God,even while on earth ,ones that are clothed by the power of the Holy Spirit Bible is very clear on any way of tying to communicate with dead. I saw here there. They do not see and are blinded how prayers to anyone but God Himself are idolatry. I used to do that as well, pray to different Saints and Mother Mary, until He had set me free.
Even if you do not go on your knees,to physically humble, you are still humbling yourself in your mind to pray to someone other than God. You bow down your spirit to someone else ,who in fact cannot hear you. Only God is Omnipresent and by your own deceived belief that someone else but Jesus can help you in your prayer to God Almighty is plain idolatry. Idol that people create in their mind, instead of seek Him with all their heart, mind and soul. We, as Catholics believe, that the saints know much better than we do what is best for us, and just as you would go to your mom before asking your dad something Mom, how would be the best way to approach this with dad or with your boss that you are trying to convince of something, you may ask someone who knows the boss better, that is what we do when we ask the saints for their help.
For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Romans I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things And when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who showed me these things. Worship God. Let no one keep defrauding you of your prize by delighting in self-abasement and the worship of the angels, taking his stand on visions he has seen, inflated without cause by his fleshly mind Colossians Why pray to them when the Lord says come directly to my throne.
What benefit would one gain by praying to the Mother Mary or other saints rather than going to the source directly? Well, perhaps Mary might put in a good word for you? My mother actually believes this! There is ONE mediator and the Bible makes this abundantly clear without even a slight chance of misinterpretation.
Our attention, focus and prayers should be with Him alone.

Peter Cianci: If the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to you today, would you be willing to ask her to pray to Jesus for you? She was married and had other children the usual way. Mary was married to Joseph.
Her husband never touched her until Jesus was born. Thereafter Joseph did what a man and wife do as he was told by the angel in the dream not to breakup with Mary. Saint Joseph and the Blessed Virgin Mary were both completely celibate during their marriage. Celibate not to be understood as unmarried.
BU-trained scholar says uninformed prejudice abounds
Matthew 46 While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him. And they were offended at him. John After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: and they continued there not many days. John 1 After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him. If thou do these things, shew thyself to the world. Acts These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.
In fact, the relationship was Uncle-Nephew. Not one time. I believe the teachings of the Catholic Church. The bible never said she went to the bathroom, or combed her, or slept at night, but we know she did all those things. We also know she had other children, the bible names them, as the previous poster has shown you with verses. I absolutely know she had no child other than the Child Jesus. And, you can not truthfully say that the Bible says she did. Only a false interpretation of the Bible would say the Bible said the such. Do you agree that the Bible says Abraham and Lot are brothers and, yet, the relationship was Uncle-Nephew?

How do you think people can know what the truth is about a particular matter such as infant baptism? Also, 1 Tim. In other words, are we in agreement not one book of the New Testament had been written at that time?
